History

The Department of Hindi, established in 1996, has been conducting regular M.A., M.Phil and Ph.D. level programme. Keeping in mind the broader concept of Hindi literature and language, the department is also creating awareness among the students with regard to the socio-cultural development of the region. The continuous attraction of students from almost all the states of North-Eastern India to the department is a testimony to the popularity of the subject and its utility and relevance in the region.

The department is also running M.Phil and Ph.D. programme to enrich the research activities in the field of Hindi literature and language along with comparative study of Hindi and other regional languages.
