History
The Department of Philosophy, established in 1974, is a Teaching and Research Department. It conducts two-years M. A. Programme; also M. Phil and Ph. D. programmes in Philosophy. Its thrust area is philosophy of Culture, in particular, the tribal cultures of the North-East region. Besides research in Western and Indian philosophy, it has done significant and pioneering work in its thrust area.
