ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Modern world is facing rapid emergence and re-emergence of many diseases and it calls
for urgent attention to finding a desirable solution to the ever-increasing menace. Conventional approach adopted in designing suitable drugs may not be able to address the problem in
short time. Hence, in silico approach combined with combinatorial chemistry is proving to
be a befitting alternative and boon to the pharmaceutical industry. The process is not only
quick but also result oriented. In view of its importance and relevance in drug designing and discovery, the workshop has been planned to address areas such as:
- Importance of protein as target for drugs
- Elucidation of the structures of proteins using X-ray crystallography
- In silico molecular design
- Virtual screening of ligands and In silico drug design
- QSAR (Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship) studies
- Toxicity prediction
- Molecular dynamics studies through simulation in different environments
- preparation of library of compounds
- IPR issues and concept of Clinical trial

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
The workshop is open to faculties, from universities and colleges, Professionals from government research institutes, private and nongovernmental organizations. The workshop will be limited to a maximum of 35 participants.
REGISTRATION
All interested participants are to submit registration form duly filled and countersigned by the respective head of the Department/ Organization on or before 12th July 2011, to the Organizing Secretary. A scanned copy of the filled registration form may be send through email to avoid delay in the selection process. Selected candidates will be intimated by email/phone. Registration Fee is Rs. 2500 (Rupees Two Thousand Five Hundred only) which can be paid in cash at the venue on 25th July 2011”.Registration fee includes resource materials for workshop, accommodation, lunch and snacks. There is no provision for TA/DA for the participants. Accommodation may be arranged on request at the university guest house/hostels.
HOW TO REACH
Shillong is connected to Guwahati by NH 40 and it takes 3 to 4 hours to Cover the distance of 103 km. Guwahati itself is connected to all parts of the country by rail, road and air services.
